One-Step vs. Two-Step Challenges — Which Has Better Pass Rates?

Compare one-step and two-step prop firm challenges. Data-driven analysis of pass rates, profit targets, and which evaluation type suits your trading style.

    How One-Step Challenges Work

One-step challenges require you to hit the profit target in a single evaluation phase, typically 8-10% within 30 calendar days. There's only one hurdle to clear, but the higher target and tighter timeframe make it more demanding per phase.

    How Two-Step Challenges Work

Two-step challenges split the evaluation into Phase 1 (usually 8% target) and Phase 2 (usually 5% target). Each phase has its own timeframe (typically 30 days each). The lower Phase 2 target acts as a confirmation of consistency.

    Pass Rate Analysis

Based on aggregate industry data, two-step challenges show approximately 20% higher overall pass rates. While Phase 1 pass rates are similar to one-step, the lower Phase 2 target gives traders a better chance of completing the full evaluation. One-step is faster but statistically harder.

    Which Should You Choose?

Choose one-step if you're confident and want faster funding. Choose two-step if you prefer lower pressure per phase and higher statistical pass rates. Some firms offer both options — compare them on MindedTrader.
